William "Billy" Teddy Rickett

William Teddy Rickett, age 52, known to family and friends as “Billy”, died at FirstHealth  Moore Regional-Richmond Campus Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Billy was a son of the late James Robert “Jim” Rickett who died August 4, 2019, and Mary “Alice” Richardson Rickett who died March 18, 2020. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Lee Rickett and Timothy Wayne Rickett.

Billy’s only survivor in his immediate family is his brother, James Tyler “J.T.” Rickett, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Rockingham, who loves him dearly and has gotten to know him even better since the passing of their parents in recent months. However, Billy’s extended family consists of cousins and relatives too numerous to mention plus his church family at Pine Grove Baptist Church where he will be greatly missed.

Being from a military family (his dad was career Army), Billy had experienced living in various parts of the world. Since returning to Richmond County, he had become a caregiver extraordinaire through helping during the illnesses of his brother, his father, his mother and others. He was also actively involved with many benevolent causes supported through his church which included the God’s Rainbow Class and the handyman ministry where he helped keep the tools organized. He was a friend to all whom he met, he never failed to share a big smile and exude a positive attitude at all times. He loved animals, particularly dogs, and he loved helping others in any way he could and that extended from those nearby to those perhaps many miles away.

Billy will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 22, at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Northam Cemetery officiated by Rev. Carl Moree. Social distancing and facial masks should be worn in compliance with current restrictions. A memorial service will be planned for a later date at Pine Grove Baptist Church once the threat of the COVID virus subsides.

Carter Funeral Home is serving the Rickett family. Condolences may be posted online at carterfuneral.net.
