Walter Franklin Pankey

Walter Franklin Pankey, 78, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.

Mr. Pankey was born November 15, 1939 in Richmond County, a son of the late Claude and Elizabeth Chappell Pankey. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and co/owner of Pankey and Sons Hauling.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Williams Pankey of the home; children, Kimberly Ard (Kenneth), Mitchell Pankey (Shannon) and Mark Pankey, all of Rockingham; grandchildren, Carla Shelley, Reggie Morrison, Dana Brigman, Justin Pankey, Madison Pankey and Chasen Pankey; great grandchildren, Kaleb Liles, Nathan Childress, Autumn Morrison and Christopher Bryant and brother, Crawford Pankey of Tabor City.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Moree and Rev. Frank Mims officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will see friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Friday at the church and at other times at the home.
