Val Gene Iacona, 77, of Troy, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at his home.

Val was born December 27, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of the late Gasper Bruno and Mary Louise Bowman Iacona. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired from CSX Railroad and was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was a member of Sandhills Rod and Gun Club, enjoyed raising horses and was a beekeeper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joshua Iacona, sister Marianne Nichols and brother Michael Iacona.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Jenkins Iacona; daughter, Valerie I. Williams; grandsons, Mason Williams and Nick Williams; brother, Eugene Iacona; sisters, Cynthia Iacona and Lynn I. Dawkins (Thomas) and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at New Hope Baptist Church, Ellerbe with Rev. Tim Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in the Jenkins Cemetery at New Hope Baptist Church.

The family will greet friends from 1:45 – 2:45 pm Tuesday at the church and at other times at the home.
