Timothy Garrett Jacobs

Timothy Garrett Jacobs, affectionately known as Tim, passed away peacefully at his home in Rockingham on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on August 18, 1962, in Darlington County, South Carolina, Tim was a cherished member of his family and community, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, dedication, and accomplishment.

Tim was proud to be the co-owner of Jacobs Auto Sales, where he brought his passion for cars and customer service to life. His work ethic and commitment to his business reflected the values he instilled in his family. He served honorably in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that he looked back on with pride and gratitude.

Family meant everything to Tim, and he took great pride in his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He celebrated 35 wonderful years of marriage to his beloved wife, Tina Grant Jacobs. Together, they raised two remarkable children, Garrett Jacobs, who is married to Hanna, and Sarah Beth Jacobs. Tim found immense joy in being a grandfather to Harlow and Julian, his proudest accomplishments, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Tim's interests extended far beyond his professional life. He had a passion for cooking and grilling, often sharing meals with family and friends that showcased his culinary skills. He loved the thrill of white-water rafting and enjoyed the tranquility of bird watching, savoring nature's beauty. Tim could frequently be found exploring new dining experiences and writing poetry in his free time. Additionally, he treasured deep-sea fishing adventures with Garrett and the moments spent watching Sarah ride horses, creating lasting memories with each experience.

Tim is survived by his loving family: his wife, Tina; his children, Garrett and Sarah; his grandchildren, Harlow and Julian; his sister, Donna Derbes, and her husband Joe; and his brother, Dwayne Jacobs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lanny Ross and Joyce Ann Shumate Jacobs.

Visitation will be held at Carter Funeral Homes in Rockingham, North Carolina, on September 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will take place in the Jacobs Cemetery at Hopewell Independent Baptist Church in Hamlet, North Carolina, on September 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

Tim’s warmth, humor, and dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those he touched throughout his life.
