Thomas Wayne Coble, 83, of Rockingham passed away surrounded by family on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Richmond County Hospice Haven. He was born on June 2, 1942 in McColl, South Carolina. Son of the late William Thomas and Reba Louise Jones Coble.

Thomas graduated from Laurel Hill High School, and joined the United States Air Force. After his time in the military, he went to work for the railroad where he worked for many years before retirement. Thomas was a Deacon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Rockingham. Outside of church activities he enjoyed fishing, shooting pool and would pick up cans on the side of the roads of Richmond County. Along with his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a son, Robin Vance Coble and sister, Carolyn Currie.

Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Kennedy Coble, children; Gary Wayne Coble (Tracy) and Shelly Coble Martin (Chris), grandchildren; Holli, Dustin and Connor, siblings; William Coble (Alice), Harry Coble (Barbara), Pat Caulder and Brenda Brazelton.

The family will receive friends on Friday January 23, 2026 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church from 12:45 to 1:45 pm. Funeral services will begin at 2pm. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.
