 Thelma Beatrice “Bea” McDonald, 72, of Rockingham, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021.  Bea was born June 17th, 1949 in Wilson, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Earl Workman and Mary Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne McDonald, son Jerry Wayne McDonald Jr. and sister Helen Hemby.

 

Bea spent most of her life caring for many children of various ages and enjoyed her time shopping with friends.  Bea worked for several years at Small World Day Care, Cordova and Kids Konstruction Day Care, Hamlet, NC.  She often reminisced of her times with the children and co-workers.   She enjoyed conversations of previous memories, watching her hummingbirds, and viewing cooking shows.

 

Bea is survived by her sons, Jimmy McDonald (Mary) and Joey McDonald of Rockingham; and her grandchildren, Christopher McDonald (Taylor) and Cameron McDonald, and niece Angela-Reddish Glenn (Michael).

 

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday,  October 1, 2021 at Eastside Cemetery in Rockingham, with Pastor Michael Griffin officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cordova United Methodist Church or to the Richmond County Humane Society.
