Teddie Dean Cooke

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Teddie Dean Cooke, a cherished soul who left this world on November 11, 2023, at Moore Regional Hospital in Rockingham, NC. Born on August 8, 1959, Teddie was the son of Billie Jean Rummage and James Bobby Cooke Sr., weaving his journey through life with threads of resilience, service, and unwavering love.

Teddie's path led him through Richmond Senior High School, Richmond Community College, and into the noble service of the 8th Infantry Division, United States Army. Later, he carved a successful career path, first as a skilled electrician and then as a valued member of the maintenance team at Morrison Youth Correctional Facility.

In the tapestry of his life, Teddie is survived by his former wife, Julie Hewett Cooke, his sons, Joshua and Scottie Cooke, and his daughter, Samantha Shives. His legacy lives on through the laughter and joy of his grandchildren, Lily Mae and Orion. Teddie leaves a void in the hearts of many, having been predeceased by his mother, Billie Jean, and siblings Bobbie, Eddie, Annette, and Deborah.

A memorial service, a moment of collective remembrance, will take place at 11 am on November 17, 2023, at Carters Funeral Home in Rockingham, NC, with a viewing commencing at 9:45 am. Teddie's essence reverberates through the memories held by his family and friends. He was a man of the outdoors, finding solace in fishing, marveling at hummingbirds, and endlessly tinkering with projects, from boats to motorcycles. Kind, loving, and with a heart full of humor, Teddie's impact on the lives he touched will resonate for years to come.
