Shelby Jean Williams McIntyre, 81 of Ellerbe, NC, entered her eternal home on Friday, November 24, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Her life began in 1942 as the daughter of John Samuel Williams, Sr. and Donnie Mae Haywood Williams. She was loved by her two brothers; older brother Johnny and younger brother Steve. A graduate of Ellerbe High School as well as Richmond Community College with an Associate’s Degree in business administration. In her early career while her children were young she worked for the Richmond County School system. Her career path took her to work in human resources where she spent 14 years with Clark Equipment Company. Following the closing of Clark Equipment Company, she then went to work at Chelsea labs in Monroe, NC obtaining her tenure. Shelby continued her career path in banking until she retired at the age of 72.
Waiting at the gates of Heaven to welcome Shelby home were her loving parents, her younger brother Steve, sister-in-law JoAnn Williams, son-in-law Vic Long, and her high school sweetheart, Charles Eugene McIntyre. During their 59 years of marriage, Shelby and Eugene welcomed four beautiful daughters, Delores Ward (Jeff) of Greenville, SC, Sheila Fulp and Trudi Long of Ellerbe, NC and Shana McIntyre of Heartland, ME. Shelby was blessed with seven grandchildren, Clint Long (Amber), Cody Smith, Corbin Ward (Julia), Jenifer Cardin (Corey), Carlie Ward, Thomas Smith and Macon McIntyre; great-grandkids, including Jaycee, Jameson, Jaxie, Jasper and Abi.
Shelby is also survived by her older brother (Johnny) John Samuel Williams Jr., of Ellerbe, NC and her sister-in-law-Wanda Williams, of Rockingham, NC as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe, NC, and other times at the home of the family.
Funeral Service will be at Ellerbe Baptist Church at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 with Pastor Jim Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Town Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ellerbe Rescue Squad and to Richmond County Hospice.
It is with our greatest appreciation that the family recognizes Richmond County Hospice and Dr. Steven Strobel for their compassionate care for our mother.
