Obituary

Ronnie Arnold Chappel, 65, of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 5, 2026 with his family by his side.

Born in Richmond County to the late Bill Parsons Chappell and Delilah Hudson Chappell on November 4, 1960.

He worked for many years in the tire business as owner of Chaps Used Tires and then Superior Cranes. He loved all things racing, a Nascar fan, especially Chase Elliott. He raced lawn mowers and most recently his Crown Vic. He also enjoyed watching football.

He loved to help anyone on the path to recovery. Alcoholics Anonymous was a guiding force in his recovery. He went on to become a mentor, and friend to anyone needing help. His sponsor and mentor Maxie was like a brother.

Surviving are his brother, Tony Chappell (Jan) of Rockingham, his niece, Meredith Chappell, great nephews and niece: Cayden, Carson, Carmyn and Carter, and many extended family.

A service to Celebrate the life of Ronnie will be held on Saturday September 12, 2026 at 11:00 am at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. The family will greet friends following the service. Inurnment will be private at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
