Michael Lynn Craven

Michael Lynn “Mike” Craven, 70, of Rockingham completed his earthly journey on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. 

Mike was born January 27, 1953 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Edison Evon and Lois Holder Craven. Mike graduated from Ellerbe High School, Class of 1971. He was a member and Deacon at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, worked with Everett Logging and as a quail hunting guide for Webb Farms. He was an avid hunter, member of the Price Richardson Hunt Club, the Ellerbe Civitan Club and had retired from the Ellerbe Fire Department after 35 years during which time he served as chief. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Gary Craven.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Susan Lill Craven; sons, Michael Kevin Craven and Carey Marshall Craven; brother, Tony Craven (Angie); sister, Sandra Futrell (Ted) and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, 1367 Clayton Carriker Road, Ellerbe, NC 28338 with Rev. James Watson, Rev. Kane McKenzie and Bryan Bray officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 12:45 -1:45 pm Saturday at the church and at other times at the home. 

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
