Rockingham

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martin Delano Davis,80, of Rockingham, affectionately known as "Tuni," who left us peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on April 9, 1945, in Richmond County, North Carolina, Martin was a shining example of kindness, strength, and service.

Throughout his life, Martin made significant contributions through both his work and community involvement. He dedicated many years to Clark Equipment Company and later retired from Economy Auto Supply, where he was known for his hard work and integrity. Beyond his career, Martin proudly served in the United States Army, embodying the spirit of duty and commitment to his country.

A devoted member of West Rockingham Methodist Church, Martin's spirit found joy in singing with the choir. He served on the administrative board and earned the endearing title of "Mr. Fixit," always ready to lend a hand, tackle repairs, or share a smile. His tenacity and willingness to help others were hallmarks of his character.

Martin's passions extended beyond his professional endeavors. He found delight in playing the guitar, banjo, and harmonica, filling the lives of those around him with music and warmth. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of fishing, while his skills in repairing cars showcased his resourcefulness and knack for problem-solving.

He leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by many. Martin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Webb Davis; his daughters, Christy Darnell, Marti Oakes, and Kathy Cloninger (Grant Clayton); and his grandchildren, Christopher Darnell (Courtney), Harley Darnell, Samantha Oakes (Lucas Hall), Destiny Williams(Garrett), Megan Oakes, Justin Priest, Christian Priest, and Faith Priest. Martin was proud of his great-grandchildren: Trinity Darnell, Jayden Darnell, Brooklynn Darnell, Gracelyn Darnell, Jackson Darnell, Brayden Darnell, Jett Williams, and one great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Lynda Davis and his beloved canine companion Sadie.
