Martha Hutchinson Shaw

Martha Hutchinson Shaw, 91, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023.

Mrs. Shaw was born July 10, 1931 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Arthur Turner and Maude Covington Thomas Hutchinson. She was a graduate of Rockingham High School, a member of Green Lake United Methodist Church and an avid gardener. She was the bookkeeper for the family businesses, Shaw Trucking and Shaw’s Garage. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Price “Red” Shaw and siblings, Thomas, James, Elbert, Joseph and Charles Hutchinson and Saradel Connell.

Surviving are her children, Perry Shaw (Diane), Dennis Shaw (Debbie), Jimmy Shaw (Lisa) and Martha Ann Shaw Rushing (Greg); grandchildren, Cathy Cooley (Rob), Jason Shaw (Amber), Daniel Shaw (Ellen), Kevin Shaw (Stephanie), Perry Glenn Shaw (Katie), Scott Outen, Mack Outen, Crystal Shaw (Josh), Titus Liles (Jessica), Kressie Taylor (Robbie), Joshua Liles (Anna), Rebekah Abercrombie (Charles);  twenty five great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Shaw’s life will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Green Lake United Methodist Church with Pastor Phil Joines officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Wednesday at the church and at other times at Dennis and Debbie’s home.
