Margaret Stroupe Upchurch Brooks

Margaret Stroupe Upchurch Brooks, 88, of Laurinburg, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Prestwick Assisted Living in Laurinburg.

Mrs. Brooks was born July 16, 1931 in Caswell County, a daughter of the late Norman S. and Margaret Yarborough Upchurch. She was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School, Class of 1950 and Wake Forest University, Class of 1954. She had taught in the Caswell and Randolph Counties School Systems for over 31 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Laurinburg and dearly loved her family and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Brooks.

Surviving are sisters, Myra U. Deane (Charles) of Rockingham, Norma U. Davis (Jim) of Greensboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at First Baptist Church in Laurinburg with Rev. Dr. Wayne Wike officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service.

A graveside service will be held at Noon Tuesday at the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Yanceyville, NC.
