Louis Gaston Tincher

Louis Gaston Tincher, 71 husband of Nancy Lear English Tincher, died Saturday, August 20, 2022, at FirstHealth Richmond Hospital. 

            Born October 1, 1950, in Rockingham, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Louis Granvil and Mabel Stogner Tincher. Louis was a graduate of Rockingham High School, Class of 1968, where he was a drum major. He served in the United States Army Special Forces and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, The Silver Star, Three Bronze Stars, One for Valor, and a Valorous Army Accommodation Medal. Louis served as a Sergeant with West Columbia Police Department in West Columbia, South Carolina. He also worked in the trucking industry as a truck driver for many years with SCHNEIDER National where he received The Million Mile Driver Award. Louis served his Lord and Savior in many capacities at Cordova Baptist Church. He taught the Adult Sunday School Class, Assistant Choir Director, Head of Church Security and served on the Benevolence Committee. He was also licensed into the Ministry April 24, 2022. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Granvil Tincher. 

            He is survived by his wife, Nancy Tincher of Cordova; two daughters, Lori Nodine (Brian) of Lyman, South Carolina, and Amanda Kautz (Douglas) of Vass, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Haleigh Forsyth (Jacob), Laurin Nodine, Mallory Kautz, Blake Kautz and Duce Nodine; two stepchildren, Steven English (Mary) and Amy Payne (Chuck) of Cordova, North Carolina; and five step grandchildren and their families; two nieces and six great nieces and nephews. 

A service to celebrate his life will be at 5pm Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Cordova Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Anderson officiating. The family will see friends from 4:00- 5:00 pm at the church.
