Lloyd Arthur Black, Jr., born on August 20, 1966, in Richmond County, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cordova, North Carolina, on February 24, 2026. A loving father, Lloyd's life was marked by his warm spirit and infectious sense of humor, which brought joy to all who knew him.
Lloyd was a devoted family man. He is survived by his fiancé, Tina Wallace Butler; his children, Dustin Dixon, Sunny Black, and Lloyd “Trey” Arthur Black, III; and his grandchildren, Brooklyn Norton, Jaxxon McCormick, and Ryder Black. Additionally, Lloyd cherished his step-daughters, Candance Butler and Alexis Butler, as well as his four step-grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by his sister, Martha Baldwin (Johnny).
Lloyd's personality was a delightful mix of kindness and a stubborn streak, showcasing his genuine character and determination. His interests included a love for working with tools and watching Westerns, hobbies that reflect his hands-on approach to life and leisure.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Arthur Black, Sr.; mother, Phyllis Ann Gaddy Baker; and sister, Joy Watson. Their memories will continue to resonate within the hearts of his surviving family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in his honor on March 2, 2026, at Carter Funeral Homes in Rockingham, North Carolina, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Lloyd Arthur Black, Jr. leaves behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, and love that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
