Lillie May McCormick Taylor

Lillie May McCormick Taylor, 93, of Rockingham, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2018.

Mrs. Taylor was born May 8, 1924 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Samuel Oscar and Ada Roseann Maness McCormick. She accepted Jesus as her savior when she was 8 years old. (John 3:16) and received the Gift of the Holy Spirit a few months after she accepted Jesus, her “upper room” experience. (Acts 2:4). She was a charter member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Rockingham, founded by Rev. H.P. Robinson in the mid 1940’s. She was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and prayer warrior. She help many come to know Jesus during her active lifetime, prayed for the sick, and encouraged people with the Word of God.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Emary Stephen “Ted” Taylor, whom she married on June 17, 1943; sisters, Elsie McCormick Poston, Margie McCormick, Jean McCormick Davis and Doris McCormick Paul and brother Sammy McCormick.

Surviving are children, George “Sammy” Taylor of the home and Karyl Taylor “KT” Melton (David Robert) of Hickory; granddaughters, Dena Roxanne Goodson Biggerstaff (Jon Christopher) of Conover, NC, Regina Lee Goodson Belt (William Scott) of Gastonia, NC; great grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Belt and William Seth Belt, both of Gastonia; sister, Mary McCormick Robinson of Ft. Myers, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Thornton officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest beside her late husband in Eastside Cemetery.

The family will see friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
