Larry Martin Smith, 72, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at his home in Rockingham. A native of Stanly County, he was born March 23, 1948, a son of the late Rev. Martin Smith and Flonnie Treece Smith. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Morris.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Georgia Kay Davis Smith; three sons: Marty Smith (Jennifer) of Charlotte, Darby Smith and Jason Smith (Heather) of Rockingham; his precious grandchildren: Taylor Smith (Terra White), Grant Smith, Connor Smith, Rylee Smith, Brayden Smith, Landon Smith and Gavin Smith; two brothers, Larry McIntyre and Randy McIntyre; and four sisters: Betty Ann Brady, Bessie Lee Johnson, Linda Autwell and Kathy Burleson.

Larry was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church. His working career was in textiles, and he was a dedicated member of the “Forgiven” gospel group where he sang bass as long as his health permitted. His love and devotion to his family and grandchildren was evident to all who knew him.
