Kevin O'Bryant Harris, Jr.

On July 3, 2025 a young man with a big smile and an even bigger heart went home to become an Angel. Kevin O’Bryant Harris Jr, KJ to friends and family, left us for a much better place surrounded by friends and family.

KJ had caught fish, played baseball with his older brother, hacked through nine holes of golf, and had 11-year- old- boy- nonstop fun in the hours prior to his passing.

KJ was born May 2, 2014 in Moore County. He is survived by his mother Megan Haynes, his brother, Devin Haynes and his sister Aaliyah Harris as well as his maternal grandparents James and Marjorie Haynes all of the home in Rockingham. KJ also left his father Kevin Sr and his paternal grandmother, Wanda Harris  and sister Blessinz Skyy Harris, as well as aunts Tarshia Harris, Betty Harris, and Nasheka Adams and an uncle Marlon Harris all of Raeford.

KJ enjoyed football, baseball, basketball, swimming, fishing, and all outside activities. Inside he enjoyed computer and video games and puzzles. He studied the NBA, NFL, MLB, college and high school sports. He was adept at Google and Siri and if you told him something he was liable to fact check you on the fly. His curiosity carried into school where his grades and attitude led him to be chosen as the school’s representative at the National Youth Leadership Forum in 2023.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 12:30 pm at L.J. Bell Elementary School Auditorium with Pastor Jason Gainey officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
