Joseph Roy Ward

Joseph Roy Ward, 85, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg.

Mr. Ward was born April 30, 1937 in Horry County, SC, the son of the late Homer and Vivian Gilbert Ward. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He enjoyed a long career in furniture sales with several local furniture stores, beginning with Hallum Furniture and retiring from Farmers Furniture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Tony’s mother, Betty Jo Ward and his second wife, Betty Lou Ward.

Surviving are his son and daughter in law, Tony M. and Jill Mabe Ward; granddaughters, Makenzie Ward and Macie Ward and his special friend and companion, Dot Coble.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. James Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at Tony and Jill’s home.
