Jerry Winfred Tew

Jerry Winfred Tew, 85, of Rockingham passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

Jerry was the son of the late William Claude and Elsie Upchurch Tew. He fought for our country as a member of the U.S. Navy. After spending his time in the Navy, he went on to do various jobs; a musician, car salesman and working as maintenance for Fruit of the Loom. He was a member of the Trinity Emmanuel Holliness Church where he attended until sickness struck his body.

He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his child Samanthia “Toy” Brabham.

Surviving are his wife of 26 years Barbara G. Tew, children Greg Tew (Lorie), Missy Tew, Renee Tew, Christy Tew, Todi Tew, Shannon Coward, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sister Joan Kitchen, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. There was one special grandson, Braxton Coward, that held a special place in Jerry’s heart. 

Services will be held privately at a later date.

Family and friends may visit the family at Greg’s home.
