James Walter Webb

James Walter Webb, 74, of Rockingham, completed his earthly journey on Monday, May 31, 2021.

Mr. Webb was born July 30, 1946 in Richmond County, a son of the late James Stewart and Rachel Hunt Webb. He served his country in the US Army, worked with Clark Equipment, Fruit of the Loom and retired from Western Carolina Forklift. He was a longtime member, Sunday school teacher and board member of Sweet Haven Church and for over 40 years sang with the Eastern Sonrise Quartet. He was a founding member of Northside Volunteer Fire Department and served on its board of directors as long as his health allowed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Burnie and Shirley Webb.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Gaither Webb; children, Kimberly Webb, Angela Quinn (Mike), Charles Benoist (Lisa), Jennie Bailey, John Christopher Bailey, and Joseph Nichols (Jenny), 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and nieces, Julie Currie (Will), their son Will Currie, IV and Bonnie Webb.

A celebration of life will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Sweet Haven Church with Rev. Kane McKenzie and Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. The family requests no visitors at the home at this time and those in attendance to please wear face coverings and remember to social distance.
