James Edward Loftis

Rockingham - James Edward Loftis, 83, died peacefully Thursday

October 11, 2018 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.  

 Ed was born April 14, 1935 the son of James and Lillian Loftis.

He was retired from Bibb Company after 43 years of service and was an avid

fisherman and hunter.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Courtney Deese, grandsons, Stephen Smith and Kenneth Smith; and great granddaughter Emma Grace Loftis.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years Gladys Lewis Loftis;  daughters ;  Dianne Carroway (Ron) of Rockingham and Karen Richardson (Robin)of Hamlet,  son;  Rev. Jim Loftis (DeLaine) of Dallas, NC;

Grandchildren: Jason Loftis (Emily), Crystal Richardson (Josh), Ashley Loftis and Brian Loftis (Brooke)

Great grand Children: Ethan Deese, McKenzie Bayless, Kylee Deese, Chase Deese, Cameron Sedberry and Bethany Loftis

Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Carter’s Funeral Home at 705 S Caroline Street.

The funeral service will be Sunday, October 14  at 2:00 pm, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Moree and Rev. Phillip Hinson officiating.

Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery.
