Jack Campbell

James “Jack” Clay Campbell, 87, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC, following a period of declining health. Born August 10, 1932, he was the last surviving child of the late Neil and Dora Webb Campbell. Also preceding him in death were four brothers: Guthrie, Benjamin, Henry and Robert Campbell, and two sisters, Virginia “Gen” Sellers and Sarah “Lib” Solomon.  

Jack was a Veteran of the US Army, having served with the Military Police. His career was in textiles as a loom fixer and he worked with Burlington Industries for 46 years. He was also a proud member of the Cordova Volunteer Fire Dept. for more than 10 years and had attended the Church of God of Prophecy.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Janice Cook Campbell; three daughters, Vicki C. Jones of Loris, SC, Melissa C. Weadon (Keith) of Myrtle Beach, and Janet Marie Campbell of Hamlet; grandchildren: Tiffany Campbell (Steven), Samantha Henderson (Stephen), Dustin Glidewell (Lesleigh), Keagan Glidewell (Kimberly) Corina Cox, Maigen Cox and Katherine “Katie” Jones; plus 12 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, March 15, at the Church of God of Prophecy officiated by Pastor Steven Gilmer. The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 until 3:50 and at other times at the home of a daughter, Janet, at 401 Dogwood Lane, Hamlet.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Church of God of Prophecy, 139 Flowers St., Rockingham, NC 28379.
