Hester Goins Goodwin Dillon

Hester Goins Goodwin Dillon, 89, of Ellerbe, completed her earthly journey on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Mrs. Dillon was born March 26, 1936, in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Willie Elmer and Rosa Culler Goins. She had farmed tobacco, worked with Tartan Boat Company and with Super Dollar. She was also a member of Joy Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William Wesley Goodwin and Ed Dillon; son Melvin Leon Goodwin and siblings, Bet Kiger, Ruby Carpenter, Virgil Goins, Rev. Otis Goins and Robert Goins.

She is survived by her sons, Michael W. “Mike” Goodwin (Melody) and Darryl Goodwin; grandchildren, Michelle Bullins (David), Brent Goodwin and Chris Goodwin (Julia) and great-grandchildren, Cody Goodwin and Tyler Goodwin.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Tuesday, August 26, 2025, followed by funeral services at 2:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe with Pastor June Grant officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery.
