Helen Melton Shaw

Helen Melton Shaw, 95, of Rockingham, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Shaw was born November 23, 1921 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late James William and Lillie Mae Sanford Melton. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Roberdell United Methodist Church. She retired from Burlington Industries after 42 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bain Shaw, and siblings, Willard Melton, Louise Sanford, Margaret Currie, Clara Smith, Hallie Walls, and Boyd Melton. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at Noon Saturday at Richmond County Memorial Park with Rev. Bob Carpenter and Eddie Russell officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery. Mrs. Shaw will lie in state at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham from 9 to 11 am Saturday.
