Glenn William Speight, 91, of Rockingham, completed his earthly journey and entered into heaven on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Mr. Speight was born June 20, 1934 in Richmond County, a son of the late Eli Ashworth and Rosa Terry Speight. He attended Crestview Baptist Church and had retired from TNS Mills. He loved spending time with his family especially attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s ball games and dance recitals. He also enjoyed fishing and singing and was an avid Richmond Raider fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joyce Saunders Speight, siblings, Harvey, E.A., Jr., Brady and Charles Speight, Ruth Swails, Louise Covington and Nora Stone, and son-in-law, Gary Trexler.
Surving are his children, Susan Trexler, Joy Parnell (Harvel), and Marsha Stutts (Art); grandchildren, Gary Trexler, Jr. (Michelle), Jennifer Stewart (Craig), Jessie Trexler, Kate Fisher (Taylor), Chris Parnell (Kaitlin), Hunter Stutts (Megan) and Grayson Stutts and great-grandchildren, Jakob Trexler, Noah Trexler, Saylor Stewart, Colton Trexler, Averie Trexler and Millie Marshall Fisher. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Crestview Baptist Church with Rev. Robby Stewart, Rev. Opie Swails, and Rev. Quinton Covington officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at Susan’s home.
