Genevieve Johnson Conner

Genevieve Johnson Conner, 84, passed away Tuesday morning, July 21, 2020, at the home of her daughter, Nancy-Jo.  She was a native Darlington County, SC, born February 25, 1936, a daughter of the late Ollie Eugene and Grace Griggs Johnson.

In life, she was a devoted homemaker for her family. She enjoyed shopping, travel, going fishing and playing poker. She had a great love for people and a forgiving heart for all. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband of more than 54 years, Earl Conner; four daughters: Doreen Hatami of Florida, Eva Grace Clark (Gene), Nancy-Jo Strickland (Frank) and Dru Odom (Alex), all of Rockingham; ten grandchildren: Fallon Lee, Mitchell Lee, John Popowich, Jami Lowery, Joseph Conner, Gena Conner, Cassidy Odom, Courtney Guity, Cameryn Odom, Kaden Davis and Brian Strickland; 18 great grandchildren and one brother, Lidge O. Jenkins Johnson (Nancy).

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will have a private service officiated by President Jimmy Blue on Thursday at the Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum where she will be entombed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered to her church’s humanitarian aid or mission fund. Checks should be made payable to the church and sent to 1867 E. Hwy. 74, Hamlet, NC 28345.
