Evelyn Laverne Hester

Evelyn Laverne Hester, 82 passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Richmond Pines Rehab and Healthcare.

Evelyn was born August 3, 1936 in Phelps, Wisconsin the oldest daughter of Arvo and Helen Esque Sivola. Her siblings are Edna Matthis, Robert Sivola, John Sivola, James Sivola and Victor and Ralph Sivola , both deceased. When Evelyn was still young Arvo and Helen moved their growing family to Winston, Oregon, where Evelyn would spend her childhood and make many life long friends. In Winston, Evelyn met the love of her life, J. D. (Jack) Hester of Scranton, Arkansas and married on September 19, 1954. Jack’s occupation offered Evelyn to travel the United States, living in California, Florida, Louisana, Montana, North Carolina, Oregon, South Dakota and Tennessee. Evelyn and Jack raised five children, Linda Nestor, husband Jonathon of Rocklin, CA; Jacqueline McAuley, deceased husband Alton McAuley of Ellerbe, NC; Ronald Hester and wife Therese of Grants Pass, Oregon; Dennis Hester, wife Michelle of Cordova, NC; and Michael Hester and wife Veva of Orlando, FL; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 3:00 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 prior to the service.

The family recognizes Ellerbe Senior Center, East Rockingham Senior Center, Hamlet House Assisted Living  Home and Richmond Pines Nursing Center’s Sparks Unit for their Loving Care for Evelyn during parts of her 18 year battle with Alzheimers.
