Eugene Thurston Bullard

Eugene Thurston Bullard, 102, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.

Mr. Bullard was born September 20, 1918 in Guilford County, NC, a son of the late Will M. and Esther Elberta Mann Bullard. He served his country in the US Army during World War II and retired from the Army Reserves in 1978. He retired from Shepard’s Auto Parts and had been a member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his wives, Ellen Virginia Martin Bullard and Rachel Frye Bullard, a son Gary Bullard and grandchildren Vicki Gaddy, Pete “Herbie” Bradley and Jeremy Bullard.

He is survived by his children, James “Mickey” Bullard (Nancy) and Larrian Whitehead (Jimmy); step children, Deborah Blake and Max Blake (Brenda); grandchildren, Jennifer Linder, Lee Bullard, James Bullard, Jr. (Julie), Jeffrey Bullard (Laura), Ricka Fields (Bruce) , Tracy Bradley, Toni Sabaugh, and Joy Nelson; step grandchildren, Randi Wood (Walt), Lance Miller (Heather), Mandy Hutton (Richard) and Ike Carlyle; 18 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at Noon Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Wayne Greene officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends from 11:00 am – 11:45 am at the church.
