Eugene Bagby, a beloved figure and a steadfast pillar of his family, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at Hospice Haven in Richmond County. Born on May 5, 1934, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Eugene lived a life to its fullest.

As a retired Navy serviceman, Eugene showcased dedication not only to his country but also to the values of loyalty and service that he instilled in his family. He was a proud man, whose most cherished accomplishment was the his family. He took great joy in creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Eugene is survived by his loving children, Tony Bagby and Shauna Briley, who carry on his legacy of kindness. His grandchildren, including Chrissy Hartwig (Douglas), Jennifer Bagby, Sandi Briley, Dwayne Bagby, Jr., and Aaron Bagby, will forever remember the time they spent with him.

He is also survived by one sister. Eugene's life was enriched by a large family, which included five sisters and three brothers, alongside the profound influence of his parents, Samuel Pleasant Bagby and Annie Pearl Lee Bagby, who have passed on but left an indelible mark on his heart.

In addition to the joy he found in his family, Eugene faced the sorrow of losing his sons, Dean Allen Bagby and Dennis Arnold Bagby, as well as his grandchild, Rickey Shelhourse. Their absence was felt deeply, yet their memories remained a source of strength and remembrance.

Memorial service to honor the life and legacy of Eugene will be held at a later date.
