Elaine Spivey Oliver

Elaine Spivey Oliver, 91, went to her eternal home on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham.  Elaine was born on July 10, 1932 in Richmond County.

She was preceded in death by Earl Dewey Spivey (father), Daisy Jenkins Spivey Talbert (mother) and Jack Dewey Spivey (brother).

Surviving are sons Bruce Wayne Oliver of the home, Robert (Bobby) Preston Oliver (Susan) of Fuquay Varina, NC, daughter Bonnie Oliver Hayes .(Jim) of Rockingham, 3 grandchildren and a number of cousins she loved as her own.

Elaine was instrumental in bringing the tour business to Rockingham in which she worked for 43 years.  She loved her travelers and they loved her.  She was told many times that if not for her, they probably would never have seen the many sites across our great country.  Her moto was “Miles of Smiles” and she delivered.  She never met a stranger and to know her was to love her.

 A  Celebration of Life will be held at 2: pm on February 3^rd at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church, 108 6^th. St., Rockingham.  Friends and family will gather in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.  Interment will be a private service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Richmond County Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Elaine’s favorite charity).

The family would like to thank everyone that visited her during her sickness giving their love and support.  The prayers, calls, cards, flowers, food and love for our mother means more than any words can say.
