Effie Chappell Meacham

Mrs. Meacham was born January 2, 1938 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Edmond Branson and Gertie Allred Chappell. She was a graduate of Ellerbe High School and a member of First Presbyterian Church Ellerbe. She grew tobacco with her father and brother for many years. For many years she operated Town and Country Florist in a cabin at her home in Ellerbe.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Chappell.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Jimmy Meacham; children, Chris Meacham (Beth) and Andy Meacham (Enhuie); grandchildren, Lindsey Hook (David), Kristopher Meacham (Britni), Zackary Meacham (Jennifer), Andrew Meacham, and Cody Blades (Matt); great grandsons, Mattis Blades and Sage Meacham; sister, Marion Smith Covington (Tom); sister-in-law Carol E. Chappell and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 30, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church Ellerbe with Rev. Stan Layton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Chappell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Saturday at the church and at other times at the home.
