Dorothy Gainey Snead

Mrs. Dorothy Gainey Snead, 74, of Rockingham, NC, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock on Saturday, September 30 at Freedom Baptist Church, 987 US Highway 1, Rockingham, NC, with burial to follow in Richmond County Memorial Park Cemetery, 1717 East Broad Avenue, Rockingham, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, Hartsville, SC, is serving the family. Mrs. Snead was the daughter of the late Archie Monroe and Willie May Gainey and she was one of eight siblings. Her surviving siblings include her brother, Edward Gainey, and sisters, Evelyn Holland, Glenda Cerezo and Joyce Flowers. Mrs. Snead was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Rockingham, NC. She also worked as a cafeteria manager in the Richmond County School System for a number of years. Many children and coworkers remember her sweet personality and beautiful smile. Mrs. Snead is survived by her husband, Daniel Monroe Snead Jr.; daughters, Kim Roos, Dana Cserny, and Kyle Thomas; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
