Dorothy Evans Smith

Dorothy Evans Smith, 101, of Hamlet went to her Heavenly Home on February 20, 2021, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born on September 25, 1919 in Richland County, South Carolina  a daughter of the late John Jefferson Evans and Ruth Irene Derrick Evans. She was a Faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman C. Smith, a grandson Phillip David Strickland and her siblings.  

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Ruth Smith Wray, Cynthia Smith Benadum; grandson, Paul C. Strickland, great-grandson Jefferson C. Strickland(Cassie), and sister Priscilla Evans Simmons of Chester, VA.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday at Richmond County Memorial Park. Facial coverings are required and social distancing is suggested.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church, 275 Airport Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
