Doris Marion Rice

Doris Marion Rice, 91, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Rice was born June 28, 1926 in Winfred, South Dakota, a daughter of the late Elmo Claudius and Bessie Mae Phillips Rice. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 70 years and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had been an Elementary School teacher, a homemaker and after moving to Rockingham in 1973, a coordinator with the American Red Cross. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, LTC Harold Arthur Rice, USA RET, sisters, Louise Harens and Donna Chapman and brother, Robert Rice.

Surviving are her sons, Bradford W. Rice (Edith) and Bruce K. Rice; grandchildren, Samantha Caulder, Colleen Rice, Andrew Rice and Christine Rice; great grandchildren, Zachary, Bryson, Lily and Kaylee and a sister, Betty Crowder. 

Funeral services will be at 11 am Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Bobby Mumford officiating. Interment will be held privately in Eastside Cemetery. 

The family will see friends from 9:45-10:45 am Monday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
