David Malcom Baucom, 86, a former resident of Rockingham, passed away at Morrison Manor Hospice Care Center in Laurinburg on Sunday, October 11, 2020, following a period of declining health. He was born in Stanly County, NC, on May 27, 1934, a son of the late Rudolph Page Baucom and Mae Murray James Baucom.

He was a graduate of Pfeiffer College (now Pfeiffer University).  He also served his country in the United States Army where he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and served a tour of duty in Germany. He was a proud 50-year member of the Rockingham Masonic Lodge. Following a 30-year career in sales and service with NCR (National Cash Register Company), David established Dave Baucom & Company Sales & Service based in Rockingham which he ran for a number of years, servicing merchants throughout several surrounding counties.  Outside his career, he enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting and he also enjoyed farm life and the animals on the farm. But his real joy was in spending time with family.

His memory will be cherished by his son, David M. Baucom II, and daughter, Kristina Baucom, both of Rockingham; three grandchildren, Cameron Baucom, Miranda Baucom and Lauren Waters; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Sylvia Ann Hanger of Tampa, FL. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shawn Baucom, and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Baucom.

Carter Funeral Home is serving the Baucom family. Condolences may be placed online at www.carterfuneral.net.
