Daniel Pratt McInnis, Jr., 49 completed his earthly journey on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

Dan was born February 10, 1971 in Moore County, NC to Daniel Pratt and Glenda Stutts McInnis. From the time he was 3 years old, he greeted everyone with a grin and a handshake, he never met a stranger. He was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School, Class of 1990 and Montgomery Community College, Class of 2005. He grew up working on the family farm and in his grandfather’s orchard, P.A. McInnis and Son. Following graduation from Montgomery Community College, Dan joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department and remained there until his health forced his retirement in 2014. He was a member of Norman United Methodist Church, Mt. Creek Volunteer Fire Department, North Carolina Retired Peacekeepers Association, 8 Point Hunt Club. Dan was an avid horseman who loved riding in Uwharrie National Forest on his trusty steed Son and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Dan was a people person and loved all people, making everyone feel like his best friends. He leaves a lasting legacy of kindness, friendship and caring.

He is survived by his wife Nicki Smith McInnis; son, Daniel Pratt “Trey” McInnis, III; parents, Danny and Glenda McInnis; sisters, Tracey Novick, her husband Randy and daughter Emily, Kelly Sears, her husband John and daughter Jamie Kay; grandmother, Jean Stutts; mother-in-law, Kathy Smith; father-in-law, Charles Smith; sister-in-law, Lynn Honeycutt, her husband David, daughter Alicia and her son Davis; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; his law enforcement family and close friends.

A service to celebrate Dan’s life will be at 2pm Monday, November 2, 2020 on the front lawn of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 1327 Clayton Carriker Road, Ellerbe, NC. Please bring a lawn chair, wear a face covering and remember to practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund., in care of William Allred, P. O. Box 195, Norman, NC 28367
