Charles Eugene McIntyre

Charles Eugene McIntyre, Gene as most knew him, passed away at his home on Friday. He  was a friend to everyone he met. He was a hugger and a kisser and never met a stranger. Many friends remember him dearly by these attributes as well as always having a smile on his face and spreading and living Gods word. Gene was born on August 7, 1938 in Richmond County, NC a son of the late Herman and Ina Reynolds McIntyre.

He was a graduate of Ellerbe High School and Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee. He is a veteran of the US Air force. He was a member of Ellerbe First Baptist Church which he grew up in and where he served in the following capacities; Deacon, Sunday School Secretary, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Choir member.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shelby Williams McIntyre. Daughters, Delores Ward (Jeff) of Piedmont, SC, Sheila Fulp of Ellerbe, NC, Trudi Long (Vic) of Ellerbe, NC and Shana McIntyre Smith of Atkinson, Maine.

Grandchildren Clint Long ( Amber), Jennifer Long, Corbin Ward, Carlie Ward, Cody Smith, Tommy Smith and Macon McIntyre.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday,  January 14, 2019 at 1:00PM at Ellerbe First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jim Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery, with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe.

Memorials can be made to Ellerbe First Baptist Church and/or Richmond County Hospice.
