Carolyn Benoist Whitley

Carolyn Benoist Whitley, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, completed her earthly journey on Friday, November 17, 2023.

Mrs. Whitley was born January 22, 1940, in Richmond County, North Carolina to the late Hilliard Benoist and the late Lucille Richardson Benoist Haywood. She was a longtime faithful member of the Rockingham Church of God of Prophecy where she helped with bookkeeping for many years. She worked with JP Stevens, Oxford of Hamlet, and Sara Lee Hosiery. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching church league softball. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Whitley in 1983 and siblings, Janice Benoist, and Gene Benoist.

Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Hubert Whitley; cherished sons, Charles Whitley (Donna) and Kevin Whitley (Kelly); beloved grandchildren, Chris Whitley (Cameron), Kim Graves (Luke), Caroline Whitley, and Will Whitley; cherished great grandchildren, Holden Whitley, Kaleigh Bowden, Kennedi Bowden, Audrey Graves and Finn Graves; and beloved sisters, Faye Honeycutt, Gayle Davis and Pam Jopson.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Church of God of Prophecy, 139 Flowers St., Rockingham with Pastor Steve Gilmer and Rev. Mackie Walters officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Monday at the church and at other times at the home.
