Carolyn Stovall Gibson

Rockingham

Carolyn Stovall Gibson, 86, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. She passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.

 

Mrs. Gibson was born June 7, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late Wilbur C. Stovall, II and Mildred L. Jent Stovall Cunningham. She worked as a substitute teacher and later in retail sales, retiring from R.W. Goodman Company.  Carolyn was a born giver, who took great care of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved reading, watching nature, long conversations and finding the best bargain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Bowersock; stepdaughter, Wanda Melton; grandson, A.J. Ammons; brother, Tommy Stovall and sisters, Jeane Curry and Donna Beltowski.

 

She is survived by her husband, Norman E. Gibson; children, Tammy Reynolds (Rick), Joseph C. Bowersock, Scott Bowersock, and Teresa Ammons (Andy); grandchildren, Michael Amezquita (Joyce),Megan Morrison (Reggie), Shana Heavner (Travis), Taylor Bowersock, Brittney Bowersock, Asa Ammons, Amber Ammons, Aden Ammons, Austin Ammons, Kyle Melton (Jewel),Travis Melton (Crystal), Clifford Roberts (Melinda), and Stacy Lynn Summerall; great grandchildren, Autumn Morrison, River Morrison, Ryleigh Smith, Gage Melton, Leighton Melton, Derick Smith, Nevaeh Smith and Regan Amezquita; brothers, Wilbur C. “Bud” Stovall, III (Barbara), Bobby Stovall (Becky), Jerry Cunningham, and Gary Stovall; sisters, Diane Sands, Sandy Sands (Ken), Beth Ann Ozog (Ken); step-mother, Willodene Stovall; daughter-in-law, Ann Bowersock step-son-in-law, Lee Melton; sister-in-law, Bonnie Bowersock and many nieces and nephews.

 

Private graveside services will be held at Richmond County Memorial Park. 

 

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of The Green’s at Pinehurst and Richmond County Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
