It is with deep respect that we announce the passing of Carl Allen Rogers, who left this world on May 1, 2025, at his home. Born on May 15, 1939, in Richmond County, North Carolina, Carl led a remarkable life characterized by service, dedication, and a love for the great outdoors.
A proud veteran, Carl served in the United States Navy for 19 years before retiring and continuing his career with CSX Railroad. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life; he was known for his warm spirit and the kindness he showed to those around him. His interests were diverse, from fishing and woodworking to grilling and smoking meats, activities that brought him joy and a sense of peace.
Carl's family was his greatest treasure, and he is survived by his loving children, Carl A. Rogers, Jr. (Karen), Vicki Havard (Lorri), and Jason Rogers (Jackie). He was a cherished grandfather to Nathan Damico-Hayes, Amber Charette, Sierra Moon, Kira Thomas, and Jesse Rogers, as well as a proud great-grandfather to Elijah Brown, Eden Brown, Dominick Moon, Harley Thomas, Colson Thomas, Jack Charette, Jude Charette, and baby Thomas, who is on the way. His beloved canine companion, Snoopy, shared many joyful moments with him, bringing companionship and warmth to his days.He is also survived by several step-children and their families.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, Kever Rogers, and his mother, Betsy Oliver Rogers. Also by his siblings, Danny, Marion, Thomas, Sherwood, and Juanita, his wives and a longtime companion, who have all passed on, leaving behind cherished memories of their time together.
The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Carter Funeral Homes-Rockingham, located at 705 S Caroline St, Rockingham, NC 28379, from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location, beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
Carl Allen Rogers will be remembered not only for his service to his country but also for the love he extended to his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, adventure, and passion for life will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
