Blossie Candy Locklear

Blossie Candy Locklear, 76, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. A native of Robeson County, she was born February 15, 1943, a daughter of the late Jackson Locklear and Lide Bullard Locklear. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jenkins Locklear, a sister, Roberta Jones, and a great grandchild.

Mrs. Locklear worked as a dishwasher at the Seaboard Station in Hamlet for some 15 years. Previously, she had worked at Fruit of the Loom and also at Burlington Industries. As long as her health permitted, she enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. She loved collecting dolls and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Lesley Locklear, of the home; four children:  J. R. Locklear, Elizabeth Locklear (Travis Campbell), McGarrett Locklear (Leigh Ann) and Matthew Locklear (Amy), all of Rockingham; three brothers, Purnell Locklear (Wanda), Jackson Junior and Jobe Locklear (Gail); three sisters, Hazel Locklear, Carrie Lee Locklear and Anna Mae Chavis. Eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 3, at Carter Funeral Home-Colonial Chapel officiated by Rev. Charlie Ronald Tyler. Interment will follow in the Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at 684 Battley Dairy Road. Memorials may be considered to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. US Hwy. 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
