Betty Strickland Taylor

Betty Jo Strickland Taylor, 83, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.

 

Ms Taylor was born December 16, 1939 in Guilford County, a daughter of the late Rev. J.W. and Marie Murdock Strickland. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Garner Webb College and retired from the Sandhills Center. She had also worked with Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and Beaunit Mills. She was a long time member of the Church of God of Prophecy where she worked with the youth choir. She loved singing and was part of a traveling gospel trio for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Strickland.

 

Surviving are her sister, Margaret Joyce Nichols; nieces and nephews, Denise Willard, Crystal Wheeler, Jimmy Strickland, Jr., William Singletary, Jan Owens and Deidre Norris and several great nieces and nephews. 

 

A service to celebrate her life will be at 6:00 pm Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Church of God of Prophecy, 139 Flowers St, Rockingham with Pastor Steve Gilmer officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. 

 

Memorials may be made to the Church of God of Prophecy, 139 Flowers St, Rockingham, NC 28379, please designate for the Men’s Ministry project at Camp Maranatha.
