Betty Pankey Layton

Betty Pankey Layton, 72, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Friday, March 26, 2021.

Mrs. Layton was born September 25, 1948 in Moore County, NC, a daughter of Kenny and Odessa Blakely Pankey. She attended First Assembly in Rockingham and had retired from Welding Supply Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, James Martin Layton, Jr and Timothy Glenn Layton.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, James Martin Layton; daughter-in-law, Bernice Layton; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Jesse Pankey,  John Daniel Roberts, Larry Roberts and Robert Roberts and sisters, Sadie Richardson, Carol Richardson, Nancy Roberts and Rachel Disharoon.

Graveside services will be at 11 am Monday at Roberts Cemetery in Jackson Springs with Rev. Gene Alexander officiating. Face coverings are requested and please remember social distancing. Mrs. Layton will lie in state from 3-5 pm Sunday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
