Betty Jean Eaddy, 93, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Betty was born September 16, 1932 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Clara Wrape Sellers. Betty had worked with Carolina Paper Mill for 15 ½ years and retired from Bowater Timber Company after 30 years of service. She was a longtime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she was church pianist for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and music. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Elwin Eaddy, step-father, Jasper Lee Sellers and sister, Martha Wilson.

Betty leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins, that she loved dearly, her special friend at Pruitt, Bill Dawkins, and a son, David Eaddy.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Pine Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Carl Moree officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest in Eastside Cemetery beside her loving husband, Elwin.

Many thanks are given to the staff at PruittHealth for the loving care that was given to Betty while she was in their care. There are no words that can truly express the gratitude and love for her niece, Deane Bullard, for the love, care and devotion she gave Betty each and every day. Deane cared for Betty like she was her own mother with the selflessness and love of a devoted daughter.

For now, we say goodbye to our sweet Betty Jean. We know the Lord is waiting with open arms. We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
