Barbara Griggs Simmons

    Barbara Griggs Simmons, 70, of Rockingham passed away on April 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 10, 1947 in Richmond County a daughter of the late Melvin Griggs Sr. and Kathleen Dean Griggs. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Griggs, Jr. and William Griggs.   She is survived by her husband Roger Simmons; son David Beggs(Genia); grandchildren, Nick Beggs and Nicole Beggs; sister, Sue Nelson(Carlton); and brother, Donald Griggs(Diane).   A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Colonial Chapel of   Carter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Price and Rev. Ricky Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home and other times at the home.
