Audrey Snuggs Chance, 89, of Rockingham, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Audrey was born on October 2, 1936, in Rockingham to the late Benjamin Floyd Snuggs and Lyndell Arenda Hayes Snuggs. A lifelong resident of Rockingham, she devoted her life to her family and her faith.
She was a faithful member of West Rockingham Methodist Church, where she joined the congregation on February 24, 1946. Throughout her many years of membership, Audrey was actively involved in the life of the church. She participated in Methodist Women, served on the Pastor-Parish Committee, and faithfully volunteered each year during Vacation Bible School. Her unwavering faith and servant’s heart were evident in everything she did.
Audrey worked for many years as a bank teller, where she was known for her kindness, friendly smile, and dedication to serving others. Outside of work, she found great joy in spending time at the beach, tending to her yard and flowers. You knew spring had arrived when seeing all of the beautiful azaleas in full bloom. She also enjoyed cheering on her beloved Richmond Raider football team. Above all, Audrey treasured the time she spent with her family, who were the greatest blessing of her life.
She is survived by her sister, Bobbie Snuggs Jones; her loving children, Debbie Jordan (Frank), Jerry Chance (Arleen), and Tammie McNeish (Jeff); her cherished grandchildren, Bryan Jordan, Amber Jordan Kenga, Jeremy Chance, and Justin Chance; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Israel Jordan, Jayden Kenga, Kaylen Kenga, Samantha Chance, Anna Chance, Jake Chance, Kaydence Chance, Sawyer Chance, and Jensyn Chance.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at West Rockingham Methodist Church with Pastor Frank Jordan and Pastor Paul Haber officiating.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Richmond County Hospice for their compassionate care, as well as to Audrey’s devoted caregivers, Denise Quick, Darlene Covington, and Emily Hill, whose kindness, love, and unwavering support brought great comfort to Audrey and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Rockingham Methodist Church or Richmond County Hospice.
