Ashley Grey Yarbrough

Ashley Grey Yarbrough, Jr., 71, departed this life suddenly Thursday, March 11, 2021, from his home in Willow Spring, NC. He was born in Randolph County on November 17, 1949, a son of the late Ashley Grey and Betty Jean Morgan Yarbrough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Kristen Rankin.

He was a graduate of Ellerbe High School, Class of 1968, and continued his education by obtaining an Associate Degree in Architectural Drafting from Richmond Community College. Always active in the community, he served on the Ellerbe Fire Department, with the Ellerbe Civitan Club and was a Charter Member of the Ellerbe Fellowship Baptist Church.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, Carla Hunsucker Yarbrough; one son, Kevin Yarbrough and wife, Wanda; a grandchild, Cody; sister-in-law, Amy Kesler (Mike); three brothers, Howard Yarbrough, Ronnie Yarbrough (Bonnie), Donnie Yarbrough (Debbie) and; a sister, Kim Arnette (Chuck); plus several nieces and nephews.

Grey had a 25-year career in the construction business, followed by a 14-year stint at Hoke High School where he taught construction, retiring in 2013. He loved to hunt and fish, but his greatest joy was in watching Kevin and Cody play baseball.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, March 15, at Ellerbe Cemetery.
