Annie Graham Bowman

Mrs. Annie Mae Graham Bowman, 80, of Bennettsville, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Pinehurst Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born August 7, 1937 in Marlboro County, a daughter of the late Shadie Huckabee and the late Grady Graham, and was raised by her maternal grandparents, Jesse Marvin and Mary Belle (Polly) Chavis Grant.

Mrs. Bowman was a retired Electronics Technician with BellSouth. She was one of the founders of the Wallace Family Life Center.  She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, and until her health made it difficult, she was a Sunday school teacher and actively involved in her church.  She enjoyed being outdoors observing God’s beauty, serving her community, and reading, but the love of her life was her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Cecil Garland Bowman Sr.  She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Elsie Grant Carpenter, Effie Grant Parker, Annie Fay Grant Johnson, Marvin Grant, Homer Grant, Robert Grant, and Velva Grant Hamilton.

Mrs. Bowman is survived by her children Patsy Bowman Coble of Virginia, Cecil “Kip” Garland Bowman Jr. (Melva) of Rockingham, Paula Bowman Lewis (Frankie) of Laurinburg, and Cameron Graham Bowman of Bolivia; grandchildren, Michelle Clark, Angelia Hinson, Pete Coble, Karrissa Horton,  CJ Bowman, Holly Bowman, Amanda Bowman, Matthew Bowman, Sarah Bowman, and Michael (Garland) Bowman; four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.  Memorial services will be held at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham at 5 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 with Mr. William Wicker officiating.  In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Wallace Family Life Center, PO Box 56, Wallace 29596 or to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 5957 Pleasant Hill Road, Wallace, SC 29596.
