Jonah Taylor

Mr. Jonah Franklin Taylor, 95, of 140 School Street, Rockingham, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at his home. Mr. Taylor was born October 1, 1911, a son of the late Rev. Charles L. and Nancy Ann Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a member of Cordova Baptist Church and was retired with Klopman Mills. Following his retirement, He worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Richmond Memorial Hospital for many years. Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 pm Sunday, March 11th in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Joe Wilkes and Rev. Landis Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park. Surviving are his wife, Sara Steen Taylor of the home; children, Mary Ann Deese, Jerry Taylor, Danny Miller, Lora McDuffie, Ann Weeks, and Donnie Miller; a sister, Effie Ashford of Charlotte; and a brother, Alvin Taylor of Raleigh. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Caryl Sue Gustafson and a son, Daryl Steen Taylor. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times now and in the coming weeks at the home between 5 and 7 pm.
